Organelle Biogenesis and Homeostasis

We are interested in membrane-bound organelles, the distinctive feature of eukaryotic cells. How organelles form and acquire their distinctive proteome and how this is maintained through quality control processes. We are also interested in inter-organelle communication- which and how molecules are exchanged between organelles and which signals regulate those exchanges. Although we do mostly fundamental curiosity-driven research, we are interested how these processes are disrupted in human disease.
